MUNICH – Bayern Munich are eyeing a treble-winning season after the 4-2 win in the Bundesliga table-topper against Borussia Dortmund and a successful debut for coach Thomas Tuchel on Saturday.
“We still have over two months to go. In these two months we can win everything. That’s where we have our focus and concentration,” CEO Oliver Kahn told the Bild TV on Sunday.
Bayern now lead the league two points ahead of Dortmund and are still competing in the Champions League, where they have a match-up against Manchester City, and in the German Cup, where they welcome Freiburg on Tuesday.
Kahn said he didn’t want to go into details about the dismissal of coach Julian Nagelsman, but rather “look ahead.”
The exciting title race this season, which also includes third-placed Union Berlin, can help Bayern improve themselves because “every game is in principal a final for us.”
“It can be helpful if you have to be at full speed all the time,” Kahn said.
Bayern dismissed Nagelsmann after the 2-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen on March 19 and following inconsistent results which saw them drop to second in the league ahead of the international break.
The German record champions started 2023 with three consecutive draws and suffered two defeats so far this year. Dortmund, meanwhile, were undefeated in this period until the game in Munich.
