7 storey building collapses in Banana Island

BANANA ISLAND, Lagos – A seven-storey building under construction today collapsed in the highbrow Banana Island, Lagos.

Reacting to the development,  Mukaila Sanusi, Deputy Director,  Public Affairs said the affected building was  not approved by the Lagos State Government.

He confirmed that there is no death but that a number of people, mainly construction workers sustained injuries.

“Few who sustained injuries are being treated.  There is no fatality. This unfortunate incident happened while casting was being done”, he about the collapsed building at Banana Island.

According to him, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development,  Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins was immediately on site to assess the situation and flag- off investigation.

“We ask members of the public to remain calm and expect further information from the ministry as we know more”, he said.
