Old Naira swap: Buhari to resolve complaints for long-term benefit

ABUJA, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he will resolve all complaints experienced in the ongoing Naira swap, following the new design in a lasting manner for the long-term benefits of Nigerians.
Buhari made the vow on his twitter page after his meeting with governors of the All Progressive Congress, APC who had stormed Aso Rock to prevail on him to suspend the exercise until June after the 2023 general election.
Buhari who said he is aware of the cash shortages and hardship faced by Nigerians assured that government is doing everything to resolve the issues and that Nigerians should expect significant improvements between now and the February 10 deadline.
He said the motive of the exercise is to build a nation which his generation and those to come will be proud of.
“The hard work to deliver a better Nigeria continues, building on the foundations of peace, rule of law and opportunities for all. We have no other motive than to serve Nigeria with our hearts and might, and build a nation which we and generations to come can be proud of.
“I am aware of the cash shortages and hardship being faced by people and businesses, on account of the Naira redesign. I want to assure that we are doing everything to resolve these issues. Nigerians should expect significant improvements between now and the February 10 deadline.
“I met with a delegation of Governors today, on the matter. All the complaints about the execution of the currency change are being seriously looked into. I will ensure that everything is resolved in a lasting manner, and we will all enjoy the long-term benefits of the decision”, he said.
