INEC extends election in Lagos, 15 other states to Sunday

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has extended election in Lagos State and 15 other states to Sunday, following non arrival of materials, snatching of ballot boxes and other violence across the states.
According to INEC, the extension was necessitated due to the level violence experienced and ‘tactical disenfranchisement’ (late arrival of election materials) in some areas.
In Lagos the election will continue tomorrow Sunday in Surulere, Ikate, Okota, Eti-Osa, Kosofe and Oshodi, all areas where thugs loyal to APC disrupted the elections
Other states where elections will hold on Sunday, February 26th are FCT, Ebonyi, Rivers, Imo, Anambra, Kano and Edo State.
Other states are Delta, Kogi, Bayelsa, Enugu, Sokoto, Taraba, Abia. and Ekiti State.
According to INEC, voting in the affected areas will resume by 8am till 12pm on the 26th February 2023.
‘’Therefore, it advised that staff and stakeholders continue to adhere to all Government/INEC directives and security advisories concerning this election’, the INEC chairman said.
