LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Mike Igini has said that the 2023 general elections will be a tsunami and revolutionary.
Igini who was speaking on Arise News said it will be very difficult and almost impossible for anybody to rig the elections slated for February 25 and March 15, 2023.
He said the BVAS and the IREV which are being deployed for the election remain the game changer adding that with what has been done, the Nigerian voters are now in the forefront, leaving the candidates at the periphery.
He said that the BVAS cannot be bypassed and that it has been used to conduct over 19 election and nothing has gone wrong but that a lot of lies has been told about the BVAS, which he said is bringing up issues of doubt but that the system cannot be compromised.
He explained that the BVAS updates total number of accredited voters and that it has to be in zero once opened before accreditation and voting.
He called on political parties to open situation rooms to be able to monitor the results which will be transmitted live from the polling units.
He said officials deployed have all signed oats to abide by the rule adding that deviants will be dealt with according to the law.
