PORT HARCOURT – Go out, cast your vote, return home peacefully, Ndoma-Egba advises Nigerians As the much awaited 2023 elections commence today with the Presidential and National Assembly polls, former Senate Leader, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has pleaded with Nigerians to conduct themselves peacefully to allow for a transparent, free and fair voting exercise across the country.
Ndoma-Egba, an erstwhile Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), made the plea in an interview by a national newspaper.
The Secretary of the Campaign Planning Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PPC) advised that people should not make themselves available for self-serving politicians to unleash violence or disrupt the elections in any way, stressing that everyone has a role to play to ensure a peaceful and credible exercise.
The ex-Senate Leader who had campaigned vigorously for the victory of the APC presidential standard-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the party at the polls, said: “It is my fervent prayer that the elections will be peaceful. God is in control. My appeal to Nigerians is that as stakeholders, we have a role to play to ensure we have a smooth transition during and after the general elections. We need a peaceful election.
“We are over 209 million Nigerians. God forbid if we were to have a refugee crisis, what will happen to us. So we all have a stake. Go out there and cast your vote and peacefully return to your homes.
“Any politician who wants to engage you on anything untoward, tell him to bring his children to lead.”
