ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has put together  the maiden Nigerian Girls Can Code Competition, NGCC as part of effort to promote digital literacy and skills  among young girls in schools.

In a statement published on the NCC website, the commission said the initiative is part of the catch them young global initiative.

“The NGCC aims to engage girls in secondary schools across the country to debate on innovative ways to address the challenges of food security through the application of fifth generation (5G) technology”, the NCC said.

It added that the initiative is in line with the Federal Government’s policy initiative –  Nigeria Digital Economy Policy and Strategy  (2020-2030), whose second pillar underscores the importance of Promotion of Digital Literacy and Skills among Nigerians.

The event is scheduled to hold at the NCC Head Office’s Conference Hall, Maitama, Abuja at 10 am on Wednesday, February 01, 2023.
