ONITSHA, Nigeria – Anambra State Director General of Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa campaign organisation, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo has stated that there is no presidential candidate that can compete with Atiku for the presidency .
Okonkwo made the statement in a released issued in Awka Anambra by the Deputy Director Media/Publicity Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Uloka Chukwubuikem on Sunday.
According to him, any vote other than voting for Atiku Abubakar and the PDP is a vote for the All Progressive Congress APC, which has abused Nigerians in the last seven years.
He said in the last seven years of APC, they have molested and impoverished younger generation , and their actions have exacerbated the insecurity that is now threatening the nation’s existence and unity in diversity.
Okonkwo said despite the party misgovernance they are still unapologetic about their brazen failure and misrule.
According to him, with the endorsement of the North for former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, it is becoming evidently clear that the victory of the party in 2023 is inevitable.
“The North and its 19 states have only declared that the task to rescue and recover Nigeria is a collective one and a clarion call to well-meaning Nigerians. There’s no doubt that the South East will, like the North, declare its support for Atiku Abubakar and ensure victory for the former Vice President in the region during the February poll.
Affirming the declaration of the northern coalition for Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, he said it is evidently clear that the Labour Party, which has our son and brother as its candidate, cannot win the presidency because the party lacks the material and human resources to win elections in all the constituencies in Nigeria.
Based on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) statistics, the Labour Party only fielded less than 30 percent of total national and state assembly seats, with the majority of the 30 percent candidates fielded only in the five South East states and a little chunk in other southern states, with near zero interest in the Northern Nigeria where the bulk votes lie. What this implies is that the Labour Party is only contesting for the votes of the South East, which, even if he gets them all cannot make the Labour Party candidate President of the Federal Republic, instead an attempt to abandon our zone in the opposition for another 8–16 years which may likely annihilate Ndi Igbo politically” he said .
He urged the Anambra people and South easterners to embrace the opportunity offered by Atiku Abubakar candidacy to rescue and recover Nigeria and vote APC out of power.
“We are confident that Atiku Abubakar will appreciate the efforts of the South East and reward their support for his recovery mission when he is declared president-elect in 2023, which is most probable.
“We want our people to understand that politics is a game that must be played with strategy and tact rather than emotion and sentiment. Given that the ticket of Atiku-Okowa is currently the most popular among other Nigerians with the promise of restructuring the country, it will be perfect for the South East to secure maximum support for the PDP. We are privileged and confident that Atiku Abubakar will not take our support for granted, rather than squander it on a frivolous venture of Labour Party” he stated.
According to him, the worst that could happen to Nigeria and diminish Ndi-Igbo the most, is the victory of the APC in 2023, which, indirectly, which the Labour Party is working assiduously to enthrone and continue the marginalization of the Ndi-Igbo and South East.
