UMUAHIA, Abia – National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA) Dr. Victor Ike Oye on Thursday inaugurated Prof Gregory Ibe campaign council with a call for members to work harder.
Oye who also made a prediction that Prof Ibe would be the next governor of Abia, come 2023 called on all the campaign members to be ready for the battle to win election, noting that nothing good comes easy in life .
“Wear your gauntlets and your loins gird and we will win. It is time for Prof. Ibe to be governor and he will be the governor ” he added.
Oye also disclosed that he was at the occasion in Umuahia to proclaim Prof Ibe the governor come 2023. Speaking on the Abuja High Court judgment on Thursday, Oye said, “We expected the judgment of Wednesday. The judgment will not stand the scrutiny of the Appellate Court.
“In law, apart from gatherings at the party office, all who gathered outside the office are political dissidents”
The primary that produced Prof Ibe as APGA governorship candidate was free, transparent, credible and fair. Be confident, Ibe will be your governor. Work very hard for the actualisation. Do not lose hope ” he said .
He said, when compared the governorship flagbearer of the party with others, Prof. Ibe is more qualified, having done much for Abians.
Earlier in his opening speech, the state Chairman of the party, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere advised members of the campaign council to “work assiduously and ensure victory for the party.
He disclosed “We are not unaware of the antics of our enemies and anti-democratic forces holding the state down. “They have recruited some willing tools in the party and fortified them with resources to possibly destabilize APGA, but all their attempts amount to efforts in futility because God is with us”.
According to him on the court judgment obtained by Chikwe Udensi, “We have filed a stay of execution, and appealed against travesty of justice which cannot stand the test of time at the higher court.
“We are not rattled because there is no cause for alarm. We know the intent of those behind the purchased judgment but they are now frustrated at the success of today’s event which they have planned to scuttle. Our legal team is on top of the game and we shall triumph in the end” he said .
In his speech, the governorship candidate of the party, Prof. Greg Ibe said that some of the PDP G5 have no pedigree before becoming governors, adding stating that he built pedigree at the age of 21 years as ECOWAS consultant” among others.
He assured Abians not to fear over the Abuja High Court decision in Abuja.
According to ibe “before now, I have given scholarship to over 400 children, treated more than 30,000 people on medical outreach” among others. He disclosed that influx of people into APGA now is unprecedented as the party has printed more than 400,000 APGA cards and the forms are being dispensed every day.
Some National Officers were at the occasion, including Engr. Uche Onyemere, the National Treasurer.
