DIG, CP storm Lagos-Ibadan expressway as kidnapping, attacks intensify

LAGOS, Nigeria – Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of South West, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo today stormed the Lagos Ibadan expressway for personal assessment following reports of kidnapping and repeated attacks on motorists plying the road.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, who is in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department and Superintending Deputy Inspector-General for Southwest zones embarked on a strategic assessment tour of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with particular emphasis on locations across the Ogun/Oyo State boundaries.
This, he said is in furtherance of the resolve and commitment of the DIG to strategically end the incessant cases of abductions and to restore confidence on road users and commuters especially as the country navigates towards the electioneering and ember period.
DIG Babatunde Johnson Kokumo in the company of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Adebowale Williams, and his visiting entourage inspected locations such as Sapade, Alampako, Onigari, Ogunmakin all border towns connecting the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway geographically cutting across Ogun and Oyo State Police Commands.
While appealing to residents and other stakeholders to assist the Police at curbing security threats through the provision of credible and timely information, he further gave the assurances of strategic operational and tactical interventions from the IGP ranging from remodelling the security architecture to comprehensive deployments to forestall any untoward situation.
