LAGOS, Nigeria – Human Rights Crusader, Mr. Femi Falana has tasked the President Muhammadu Buhari to dialogue with leader of the indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, stressing that the Federal Government is incompetent to put him on trial.
Falan who was speaking at the Felabration, Fear Not 4 Man, titled “2023: Time for Action” noted that if the Federal Government can indeed dialogue with Boko Haram, an internationally acclaimed terror group, it should go into dialogue with all aggrieved group in Nigeria seeking for justice, including the IPOB leader.
Recall that the Court of Appeal on Friday discharged and acquitted Nnamdi Kanu of all seven count charges proffered against him by the Federal Government.
But the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami has threatened to appeal the judgement, while President Muhammadu Buhari had in the past insisted in completion of the legal process.
On the 2023 general election, Falana made it very clear that there are just two groups of people in Nigeria, the ruling class and the rest of the people, stressing that when Nigerians go to the market, nobody interrogates them about their ethnicity and religion with common price for everyone.
He insisted that the 2023 general election is about the Nigerian Naira that is now the worst currency in the world, and now less than CFA, the rising cost of goods and service, inflation and what the person to be elected will do to take Nigeria into the best in the committee of nations.
According to him, if it is indeed your turn, tell Nigerians what you will do to make Nigeria the best in the world, to take Nigeria from consumption to production.
He tackled the Nigerian government on allocation of oil wells, stressing that government has long ago allocated oil wells among the ruling class in a country that is laced with poverty adding that the money to be made from one oil well is enough to feed Nigerians lavishing in poverty.
He said that any individual that gets oil well is instantly transformed into a billionaire without spending a kobo. He said his generation, including those in power went to school without paying school fees and that some even received salaries while in school.
Also speaking, the guest speaker, who is former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moshalu aligned with Falana and called for building national consensus on what is Nigeria, who is a Nigerian and interrogation of what constitute the structure of Nigeria and whether to build another structure.
He said the structure of Nigeria should not just be about what the rulers think but that there is the need to define what Nigeria means for every Nigerian, adding that how Nigeria will get there remains the task for the next person taking over the reigns of Nigeria.
In his remarks, Mr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed said that the north believes in leadership that will energise Nigeria in 2023, put Nigerians on the table to look at the reasons for insecurity in the country and how to do away with it.
All the speakers urged Nigerians to get involved in the 2023 general election, fear no one and be bold to make their choices even if government wants to bring down the roof in their quest to impose their will on Nigerians.
