Healthy food women need to live healthily

AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Health experts have advised members of none governmental organisation NGO Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria (UBWFAN) to maintain and live a healthy life.
The experts gave the advice on Saturday at the Nigerian Union Journalists (NUJ) office, Awka Anambra State shortly after they had walked for over eight kilometres as part of efforts to boost their health status.
A University don, Dr. Okwy Azubike who spoke on healthy food said that eating healthily helps to build immune system and fight infection
According to her, women should prioritise eating natural food to boost healthy living and urged them to avoid food with much sugar, cold drink much intake of alcohol and processed food. She also advised the women to cook natural food in their homes rather than buying food supplements.
“Eat more vegetables and fruits. You should avoid junk foods, eat fruits and vegetable every day. You can maintain a healthy weight when eating healthy foods. If you eat healthily , your body will be ready to fight sickness” she said .
Dr Uju Okoye of Anambra State Ministry of Health represented by Mrs Ifeoma Ikeanyionwu who spoke on physical exercise said body movement help people to live a healthy lives.
“Physical exercise helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases and slump. It will helps to keep the body and mind healthy. It frees the minds from anger. Issues and problems may come. But you can only overcome them by being in good state of minds. We can do exercise for at least ten minutes in our house. We should make it part of daily routine and not stay in one place always. Jogging. Legs and all parts of your body needed to be exercised daily for healthy minds and body” she said.
Also a don ,Dr. Rose Amasiani who lectured on use of natural manure, said it is better to use natural manure to farm than fertiliser.
According to her, any food cultivated with natural manure is healthier and safer for human being She said before now there is nothing like cancer, noting that cancer are on increase because of artificial fertilize and processed foods.
Amasiani stated that it is better to use natural fertiliser than artificial fertilisers, noting that natural fertiliser is not harmful to the body like artificial fertiliser.
The president of UBWFAN Hon. Nkeiru Nwagbo said that they are ready to provide humanitarian and charitable services to Nigeria women , especially those in Anambra state.
According to her, the major concern of the group is to promote socio- economic development of women through their various empowerment programmes.
“We have developed programme to provide care for the vulnerable women , including widows and those with different forms disabilities ” she said.
Speaking at the occasion, the National Patron of UBWFAN Prof Stella Okunna commended the group for taking care of the women in the state.
“I am very happy for the activities of these women. I love young women who are doing important things ,I love the president of the group Hon. Nkiru Nwagbo for organising you together for greater tomorrow” she said.
She said that ,they need to work harder to get partner to actualize the dream of the group, and she promised to look for better partners .
Also speaking at the occasion, chairman, correspondent chapel Awka Anambra state chief Chuks Iluze who represented the NUJ chairman Dr. Emeka Odogwu encouraged the women to take charge of their destinies. He also commended them for the great initiatives to better their lives and health.
The former Dean faculty of Management sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University ,Awka Prof. Mrs Lillian Orogbu said she has confident hence her decision to associate with them.
She said she is interested in the group because women are concerned. She urged women to be ready to be the best in whatever they do
“I will support you, it is not easy to manage the women. We must be healthy to manage our homes, only the healthy person that can farm. We must encourage our women to grow in the society. We will grow this group , we want the voice of this group to be heard , we will look for partners. We must help our husbands and we must do something to support our families, “she said.
Also speaking at event the wife of the State Police Commissioner Mrs Echeng Echeng represented by Mrs Melody Ogidi said she was happy and proud to be associated with the NGO that provide for women in the society. According to her, it is a welcome development for the women.
