Chrisland Dubai video scandal: Lagos re-arraigns Metro FM Disc Jockey

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government today rearraigned a Disc Jockey, Mr. Uche Igwe alias Darksam, working with Metro FM, one of the broadcasting stations operated by Radio Nigeria.
He was rearraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ court, Yaba, for allegedly sharing the amorous video of a Chrisland Schools pupil, riding on her colleague in the hostel during the World School Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Earlier in 2022, the Nigeria Police Force arraigned the 40-year old broadcaster on a two-count charge of cyberstalking and breach of peace. He entered a no guilty plea to the chargers.
The Chief Magistrate, Adeola Adedayo, had also admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10 million with three sureties in like sum.
But, on Tuesday July 25, The Lagos State government, through its counsel, Omolola Saliu, re-arraigned the defendant on a fresh one-count charge. Darksam equally entered a no guilty plea to the charge when it was read to him.
In the new charge, Darksam is accused of distributing via his twitter handle on April 18, the amorous activities of 12 year old Chrisland school girl riding on her colleague, a Truth or Dare game, contrary to Section 23(2) of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, 2021.
If found guilty, he risks a seven-year custodial sentence. Trial has been adjourned till September 28, 2022.
