ENUGU, Nigeria – Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Callistus .V.C. Onaga has banned all Catholics, (Clergy, religious and lay faithful) from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry, led by Fr. Camillius Ejike Mbaka until due canonical process initiated by the Enugu diocese is completed.
“I hereby prohibit all Catholics(Clergy, religious and lay faithful) henceforth from attending all religious and liturgical activities of the Catholic Adoration Ministry, until due canonical process initiated by the Diocese is completed”, Bishop Callistus Onaga said.
Onaga said he made the decision based on the facts that some of the teachings and utterance of Fr. Camillius Ejike Mbaka at the Catholic Adoration Ministry are not consistent with the teaching and faith of the Catholic church.
“I enjoined all the Christian faithful to keep praying for Fr. Mbaka and the Catholic Diocese of Enugu as I entrust him and the Diocese to the maternal care and protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Apostles”, he said.
Fr. Mbaka had publicly in a an online video described the Presidential Candidate of the Labor Party, Mr. Peter Obi as a stingy man for refusal to donate for frivolity.
He had said that Obi’s mission to be President of Nigeria will meet a brick wall until he comes to the Adoration Ministry to kneel down and sow kingdom seeds (make donations). In another video, Fr. Mbaka had in the church told Peter Obi to make donations but Obi asked him to show him the project he is doing to enable him make the needed donation, a development that infuriated the man of god.
Bishop Onaga said what has transpired in the Catholic Adoration Ministry Enugu is capable of undermining the catholic faith and teaching and that Fr Mbaka had been given fraternal corrections and admonitions with pastoral guidelines and directive for the ministry but that he has persistently violated them hence he as Chief Shepherd, with the obligation to promote and safeguard the Catholic faith and morals had to wield the big stick.
