Peter Obi resigns from PDP, eyes new party
LAGOS, Nigeria – Front runner in the presidential race under the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Peter Obi has resigned from the PDP. Peter Obi hopes to pursue his presidential aspiration through another party yet to be disclosed.
“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we make profound sacrifice towards rescuing our country. My commitments to rescuing Nigeria remain firm even if the route differs”, he said.
In a statement he personally signed addressed to Chairman of the PDP in Abuja, he said his decision to resign was conveyed to Chairman of Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha LGA, Anambra effective, Friday, May 20, 2022.
“Consequently, I am by this letter informing you of my withdrawal for the PDP Presidential primaries.
He said it has been an honour to contribute to nation building efforts the through the party, but that unfortunately, recent development within the PDP has made it practically impossible for him to continue with making constructive contributions.
“Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we make profound sacrifice towards rescuing our country. My commitments to rescuing Nigeria remain firm even if the route differs”, he said.
He thanked the chairman for his graciousness and leadership. “I wish you well and best of luck in the service of country”, he said.
