Gunmen kidnap Catholic Priest, 3 others in Katsina
KATSINA, Nigeria – Few weeks after the lynching of Deborah Yakubu by Muslims students of Shehu Shagari College of Education, over what they described as blasphemy, the Catholic Diocese in Katsina has come under attack by gunmen.
This time, the attack was targeted at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State.
According to Director Social Communications, Fr. Chris Omotosho, the gunmen stormed the parish at midnight and made away with the Parish Priest, Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Oliver Okpara and two boys.
He said there is not information about their whereabouts and called on Nigerians to pray for their safety wherever they may have been taken to and safe release.
“As at midnight of today, 25th May, 2022, gunmen broke into the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State.
“The parish priest and his assistant Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP, & Oliver Okpara and 2 boys in the house were kidnapped. No information as to their whereabouts. Kindly pray for their safety and release”.
