AFCON: Cameroon goes down 3-1 on penalty against Egypt
YAOUNDE, Cameroon – It was Egypt that got the upper hand after a thrilling encounter at the 60,000 capacity Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, beating the host 3-1 on penalty, setting the stage for a final encounter with Senegal at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Cameroon will now play Burkina Faso for the third place on likely on Saturday.
It was the only game that went into penalty shot out in the semi final and was rounded off in the first round of penalties.
Cameroon lost three shots on penalty. The scorers for Egypt are Zico, Mohamed Abdelmonem and Mohanad Mostafa Lasheen.
In terms of statistics, Cameroon had more shots on target, 2 against 1 by Egypt. Cameroon also had 6 corner kicks against 2 by Egypt and a ball possession of 55 percent against 45 by Egypt but unfortunately, it was Egypt that will now meet with Senegal in the final on Sunday.
