Senegal beats Cape Verde, grabs quarter final ticket
BAFOUSSAM, Cameroun – The Teranga Lions of Senegal roared on Tuesday evening, forcing the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde to lose focus and in the process conceded 2-Nil at the Kouekong Stadium, Bafoussam, Cameroun in another classic encounter.
It was a keenly contested game that saw both team putting in their best, though the first half ended goal less. Senegal came into the second half more determined , taking the lead in the 63rd minutes through a strike from Sadio Mane.
Bamba Dieng made it 2-0 two minutes into the 5 minutes extra time and held on till the end of the game. In terms of statistics, Senegal dazzled the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde, securing 64- 36 percent ball possession.
Shots on target, Senegal had 4 against 1 by Cape Verde. Senegal had 10 corner kicks against just one corner secured by the Blue Sharks.
Both teams had one Yellow card each, while two players, namely Patrick and Vozinha playing for Cape Verde were sent off the field of play.
