AFCON: Zimbabwe knocks Guinea 2-1
YAOUNDE, Cameroun – Zimbabwe on Tuesday got the upper hand in the group game at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroun, beating Guinea 2-1 in an explosive encounter at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjio.
But it was Guinea that had the greatest possession of 65 to 35 even though Zimbabwe won the game. Zimbabwe went into the lead in the 26th minutes through a goal from Knowledge Musona with an assist from Never Tigere.
Kudakwashe Machi made it 2-0 for Zimbabwe with assist from Admiral Muskwe in the 43rd minutes. The scoreline was 2-0 in favour of Zimbabwe at half time.
At resumption of play, Naby Keita, assisted by Mamadou Kane reduced the tally for Guinea, when he scored the only goal for his side at the 49th minutes .
In terms of statistics, Zimbabwe had the highest goal kicks, 14 against 8 by Guinea. Both team had three shots on target each as well as Yellow cards.
