Anambra CP parleys journalists in fight against crime
ONITSHA, Nigeria – Anambra State Commissioner for Police C.O. Encheng Echeng has called for synergy between the police and journalists in the fight against crime.
The commissioner made the call on Wednesday when the executive members of Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of journalists NUJ Anambra chapter paid him a courtly visit at his office in Anambra , Awka south.
He said that the police and journalists are partners in the fight against crimes and other ills of the society. The commissioner also stated that the police need the press to be able combat crime for better society.
Echeng said that the police need the press to effectively function, fight crime and reduce crimes in the state rate to barest minimum .
According to him, the police is not calling the press to close their eyes on the ills of the police but to report objectively for the good of the state.
Earlier , the chairman of correspondent chapel Chief Chuks Ilozue commended the commissioner for bringing calm in the state since he assumed office. He said that the commissioner has achieved much since he assumed the office of CP in Anambra state.
He assured that the chapel made up of about 27 national newspapers would partner the state police command to entrench peace in the state .
