LAGOS, Nigeria – Alice Obodom, a lovely lady who breathes life into condemned tyres through her creative ingenuity during the week emerged toast of investors in the business reality television show, Lions Den.

Lions Den is moderated by a group of renowned investors, collectively known as Lions, comprising  Kyari Bukar, Co-founder and Managing Partner, Trans Sahara Investment Corporation, Paul Onwuanube, Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Landmark Group,  Adenike Ogunlesi, Founder and Creative Director, Ruff &Tumble, Dan Ngerem, Chairman, Hensen  Trust Group and Bolaji Balogun, CEO, Chapel Hill, Denham.

Alice Obodom was the last to pitch, which comprised a set of chairs, and a smart table, fitted with bluetooth and music capable of boiling water, using high powered electric kettle.

Her other creative works include fancy lights for discotheques and fittings for hotels and guest houses. But it was the Smart table that got all the lions on their feet and were moved to go close and examine the Smart table.

Her pitch was N12 million for 18 percent equity, but she wowed the investors, getting three among the whole to herself for 32 percent equity for N12 million. Paul and Dan were the only exceptions –  They are not investing in the project which has the prospect of turning into a multi billion investment in a couple of years.

Presently,  Alice Obodo  makes 8 tables a month,  due to scarcity of funds. She believes that with N12 million she will be able to make at least 20 tables per month. Last year, she made N6.5 million.

Speaking on her creativity, Alice Obodo said she grew up in Lagos and that her works which have now become the fancy of the world were inspired by divorce.

“ I went through a phase, divorce, it really shook me  and it was all I needed to express myself and not feel depressed and this came up.  Whenever I see something beautiful, it makes me happy”, she said.

The Smart Table has market price of N165,000 per unit.  “You are investible person, if two have invested, I will be happy to join,  and give a third of the money at 32 percent”, Adenike  Ogunlesi announced.

Lions’ Den is a business reality show that gives budding entrepreneurs across Nigeria the chance to pitch their business to 5 successful Nigerian investors. These Lions are looking to give back to the society and help Nigerians fulfill their dreams and ambitions.

“If they see the potential in the entrepreneurs’ business, idea or products, they will invest in the business, in exchange for some equity in the business. But even bigger than the cash investment, these Lions, who are business leaders in their own rights, will become the entrepreneurs business partners and help them take their businesses to greater heights”, the reality show said online.

“They showed my pitch on Lions Den today, on Africa magic urban. I am so happy, it was a success, I didn’t embarrass myself, son, family, friends and village people. Thanks for all the calls & messages”, Elated,  Alice Obodom said on the social media after the show.
