PDP Govs vow to resist any plot to rig Anambra guber poll
ONITSHA, Anambra – Thirteen governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, platform that stormed the grand finale of party governorship candidate valentine Ozigbo have vowed to resist any plot to rig the Saturday election.
Chairman of the PDP national campaign council for Anambra state governorship election, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state disclosed this on Tuesday during the party’s mega rally in Awka, to cap the party’s campaign for the Anambra state governorship election.
Governor Ikpeazu who was accompanied by Governors Ifeanyi Okowa and Seyi Makinde of Delta and Oyo states respectively, and, deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shuaibu declared that PDP during its just concluded national convention held in Abuja, said it was prepared to “take back” the country’s reins of power from the All Progressives Congress, APC, come 2023 general election.
He said the party also expressed optimism that with the popularity of the party in Anambra combined with the quality of the candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, PDP would win the governorship poll. The Abia state governor stated that the outcome of PDP national convention showed “The train has started for the recovery of Nigeria in 2023.
” I am sure that the people of Anambra can’t afford not to be in the train” he said. He charged the people of Anambra to reject those sent to capture Anambra state, saying that nobody can capture Anambra state in Jesus name
He urged voters not to be intimidated from going to cast their votes during the governorship poll by the massive security deployed to the state
” I want to assure you that PDP Governors will protect votes cast for PDP in the election. Our candidate, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo is a humble person; he doesn’t claim to know it all; he is God fearing, and, a team player. May the fate that befell PDP in Edo state on the day of the election be your portion in Jesus name”, Ikpeazu prayed.
He also stated that the South East has been in trouble under the current administration, and, had only been surviving by the grace of God, citing that infrastructures decay in the region, especially roads that had been abandoned.
In their separate speeches, Okowa, Makinde, and, Shuibu charged the people of the state to shun any act of intimidation that might be employed to scare them from coming out to cast votes in the election. They urged the voters to come out enmass, and, vote for PDP, and, its candidate, Ozigbo.
Okowa urged members of the party to forgive and forget any bottled up anger, but, unite forces and work for the victory of the party. Makinde described Ozigbo as a leader with the required vision to rebuild the state, and, urged the people of the state to chose him above all other contestants.
“The governorship on Saturday is not a choice between good and evil; but a choice for the best material, and, the best material is Mr. Valentine Ozigbo” he said. Shuibu in his own speech urged the people of the state, especially the youth to ensure that PDP win the poll by a landslide.
Hundreds of stalwarts of PDP in the state, including Mr. Peter Obi, Chief Ben Obi, senator Uche Ekwunife, Ozigbo’s running-mate, Lady Azuka Elemo, chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Reps members: Obinna Chidoka and Chukwuka Onyema; Mr. Oseloka Obaze, Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe, etc
