Evans: Witness declines physical appearance in court
LAGOS, Nigeria – Failure by a key witness to appear in person before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in the case involving alleged kidnapper, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike better known as Evans has stalled procedure at a Special Offences court in Ikeja, Lagos.
Prosecutor from the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Y. A Suleman informed the court that he would not be able to proceed with the case at the moment due to absence of his witness due to issues having to do with security.
He also went further to state that the witness in question, was willing to make an appearance via zoom and that necessary application would soon be before the honourable court.
According to him, the last witness to appear before the honorable court faced some security challenges and won’t want a repeat of such again.
Defence counsels to the first and second defendant, O. A Talabi and Emmanuel Osia didn’t oppose the application of the prosecutor
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo upon the request of the prosecutor and no opposition from the defence counsel adjourned to the 29th of November 2021 for hearing of the said application.
Evans is being prosecuted along side Uche Amadi, Okechukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, Victor Chukwunonso Aduba and Ogechi Uchechukwu on two count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.
