Anambra losses N19.6bn every sit-at-home day, says Soludo
ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Former Governor of the Central Bank o f Nigeria (CBN) and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming Anambra state governorship poll, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has said that Anambra State loses an average of N19.6 billion every sit-at-home day in Anambra.
The Professor of Economics made the revelation during a meeting with elders and stakeholders in Anambra State on Saturday.
He called on those killing and maiming in the state to have a rethink, stating that violent has never been a way of life in Anambra State. “Anambra State economy loses an estimated sum of N19.6bn every time the sit-at-home directive is enforced in the state.
” I call on the people of the state to be watchful. I praise the outstanding achievements of Governor Willie Obiano who has delivered sustainable legacy projects to Ndi Anambra, including the Anambra International Airport; the International convention centre, Awka and the Awka stadium.
“The governor has done well despite overseeing two recessions and the state suffering dwindling federal allocations”.
There have been killings and destruction of property in the state recently by gunmen. On Tuesday, Dr Chike Akunyili, the widower of the late Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili, was killed at Nkpor by hoodlums who were reported to be chanting ,”No election in Anambra in November.”
