Coronavirus: Nigeria reports 78 new cases 2 deaths

LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed 78 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in the country, bringing all time cases to 207, 694. 

But out of the 207, 694 confirmed cases,  195, 274 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2, 747  others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 9673 active cases, while 2 patients died in the last 24 hours.

“NCDC: 78 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos -22,  Kaduna – 12,  FCT – 10,  Benue – 9,  Imo – 8, Akwa Ibom -4,  Delta – 4,  Kano -4, Jigawa -3,  Plateau – 1, Rivers – 1;  207, 694 confirmed; 195, 274 discharged; 2, 747 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.

There are now 237,829,074 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic worldwide, 4, 850,763 patients are already dead, while 6, 459, 058,082 doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered worldwide, based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 44,337,687 confirmed cases, while 713,022 patients are no longer alive(23, 913 new 86 deaths*), followed by India, which has reported 33,953, 475  confirmed cases, while 450,589  lives have been wasted(18, 166 new and 214 deaths*) and Brazil which has reported 21, 567, 181 confirmations and 600,829  deaths(16, 451 new and 404 deaths*).

The United Kingdom has come up as the 4th country  most hit, reporting  8, 192, 541  all time infections, while 138,139 lives have been lost(33, 612 new and 38 deaths*), followed by Russia which has documented 7, 658, 923  all time cases and 212,576  deaths(27, 889 new and 949 deaths*) and Turkey with 7,444,522 all time infections, while 66, 180 lives are no more(57, 015 new and 402 deaths*).

France has been pushed down to the 7th most afflicted country, reporting 7, 156, 066 all time cases, while 117, 927 lives have been wasted by the virus(4057 new and 12 deaths*), followed by Iran, which has reported 5, 702, 890 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, while 122, 592 patients are now dead(11, 256 new and 222 deaths*) and Argentina which has documented 5, 265, 528 confirmed cases, while 115,458 patients have passed on(470 new and 14 deaths*).

Spain remains the 10th country most hit, reporting 4, 973, 619 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, while 86, 778 patients have been killed and South Africa, which has documented 2, 912, 145 all time cases, while 88, 317 patients have been taken by the virus(648 new and 25 deaths*).
