Great boxer, Manny Pacquiao retires for politics
PHILIPPINES – Holder of boxing championship in multiple categories, Manny Pacquiao has announced his retirement from boxing 26 years after a very successful career.
The Filipino said he is hanging his gloves to enable him to concentrate on his presidential ambition. He wants to be president of Philippines come March 2022.
PacMac, as he is well known started his boxing career in 1995. PacMac who was speaking to Toni Gonzaga on Youtube said he has been into boxing for a long time and that his family have always wanted him to put a stop to boxing.
He said started as a kid selling bread and that he is grateful that he became a boxing champion known all over he world.
“I am thankful to be a Filipino and thankful to all the fans all over the world”, he said. PacMan won 12 major titles during his boxing career and became the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes and first boxer to win major world titles in four of the eight glamour divisions, flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.
PacMac is also the only boxer to hold world championship in about four decades, 1990s, 2000, 2010 and 2020s and in 2019. He became the oldest welterweight world champion in history at the age of 40.
