LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed  299 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic, bringing all time cases to  200,  356. But out of the 200, 356 confirmed cases,  188,  927 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2, 640 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 8789 active cases.

“NCDC: 299 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria: Lagos – 94, FCT – 30,  Oyo – 27, Bayelsa – 23,  Rivers – 20,  Edo – 17,  Taraba – 17,  Kwara – 15,  Benue – 14,Delta – 11,  Osun – 10, Ekiti- 9,  Gombe – 4, Plateau – 4,  Kano – 2,  Ogun – 2:  200, 356 confirmed;  188,  927 discharged; 2, 640 deaths”, the NCDC has  reported.

There are now 226, 979, 987  confirmed cases of the pandemic worldwide,  4, 669, 143 patients are no  more, while 5,804,269,071 doses of Coronavirus vaccines have been administered worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted, reporting 41,780, 371  all time cases, while 669, 937 patients have lost their lives(269, 117 new and 3637 deaths*), followed by India, which has documented 33,347,325 all time cases,  while 443,928  patients are no more(30, 570 new and 431 deaths*) and Brazil, which  has registered  21,069, 017  all time infections, while 589, 246  patients have died as a result of the virus(49, 187 new and 1449 deaths*).

The United Kingdom maintains the 4th spot, reporting 7, 373, 388  all time cases and 135, 134 deaths(26, 562 new and  159 deaths*), followed by Russia which has documented 7, 110, 656 all time infections, while 192, 340 patients are no more(19, 288 new and 774 deaths*) and France, reporting  7, 021, 091 confirmed cases and 116, 506 deaths(13, 272 new and 38 deaths*).

Turkey remains the 7th country most hit, reporting 6, 766, 978 all time cases while 60, 903 patients have kicked the bucket(28, 118 new and 262 deaths*), followed by  Iran which has registered  5, 378, 408 all time infections, while 116, 072 patients have given up the ghost(18, 021 new and 453 deaths*)  and Argentina which has documented 5, 234,851 confirmed cases, while 114, 101 patients are no more(5003 new and 285 deaths*).

 Colombia remains the 10th country most hit, with 4, 936, 052 all time cases and 125, 782 deaths(3054 new and  69 deaths*) and South Africa, the most afflicted country in Africa, reporting  2, 873, 415 confirmations, while 85, 779  lives have been swept away by the virus(4214 new and 311 deaths*).
