PORT HARCOURT, Rivers – Owners of Private Schools in Rivers State are in for a hard time if the Rivers State Ministry of Education carries out its threat following reports that private schools are planning to vacate for third term on the 20th August, 2021, against 10th of September 2021 approved by the governor.
In a statement, Sir Chidi Adiele, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education said in the released calendar approved by His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike in August 2020, schools are to vacate for the third term 2020/2021 academic session on the 10th of September 2021.
“Thus, schools are to vacate on the approved date”, he said, adding that any private school that flouts the governor’s directive will have their schools disaccredited.
“ For the avoidance of doubt, any private school that vacates before the approved closing date will be de-accredited and will not be allowed to re-open in the next academic session. Take note that de-accredited schools will be published and the public warned not to seek admission into such schools”, the commissioner warned.
The commissioner explained that private schools are informed to adhere strictly to all the Directives of the State Governor as communicated to them through the Ministry of Education.
“Officials of the State Ministry of Education shall be deployed to seal up schools that vacate before the approved closing date”, he said.
