Anambra 2021: APC does not have governorship candidate – Group

ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A group of All Progressives Congress (APC), chieftains under the aegis of the All Progressives Media Team which comprises all media representatives of governorship aspirants of the party has asked the public to disregard reports that the issue of who emerged candidate of the party for the November 6, 2021 governorship election has been settled.
In a press briefing in Awka Wednesday, the group led by Hon.Jude Orolua said the matter of governorship primary election “which never took place” is far from being resolved.
A statement signed by members of the group read in part: “It is important to note that as at 5:00pm on Saturday 26th June, 2021, there was no sign of any APC Primary election taking place anywhere despite the large turnout of APC members to exercise their rights. Also, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), some media houses and accredited observers for the Primary election have spoken with one voice that there was no primary election”.
The group said that even aspirants in that election, especially those from the same local council as Senator Andy Uba “have come out in public to say there was no accreditation, voting and collation of result in their local government where the so-called winner emerged from”.
They recalled also that “this type of charade took place during APC 2019 National Assembly Primary Election in Anambra State, where the same man, Senator Andy Uba hijacked the committee led by Barr. Mrs. Bisi Idaomi committee for the primary election and the primary election results were announced from the comfort of their hotel rooms, the resultant disgraceful outing for the party and President Buhari in 2019 election in the state….History is about to repeat itself if this charade is not addressed properly”, they said.
They called on APC ” to sanction Senator Andy Uba and Governor Dapo Abiodun who were arrow-heads behind this charade. There must be consequences for people’s actions.
The statement read by the group was signed by Hon. Tochukwu Onyedibe, Hon. Jude Orolua,and Hon. Emmanuel Ifediata. Other signatories are: Hon. Ekene Onyido, Hon. Johnson Okoye, Hin. Ebube Ezeokafor and Hon. Afam Eboh.
