5 writers shortlisted for AKO Caine Prize 2021

LAGOS, Nigeria – Organisers of the AKO Caine Prize for Literature have shortlisted five writers for the 2021 edition. Out of the five writers shortlisted, three are ladies while two are men.
Those shortlisted for their impressive writing include ‘Lucky’ by Doreen Baingana, from Uganda. Her work, Lucky was published in Ibua Journal, Online in Kampala, Uganda, 2021.
Also shortlisted is ‘The Street Sweep’ written by Meron Hadero, from Ethiopia. Her writing, The Street Sweep was published in ZYZZYVA, Ethiopia in 2018.
Next to be shortlisted is ‘The Giver of Nicknames’ written by Rémy Ngamije, from Namibia. His piece, The Giver of Nicknames was published in Lolwe, Kenya, 2020.
Also in the list is ‘This Little Light of Mine’ written by Troy Onyango, from Kenya. His piece titled This Little Light of Mine was published in Doek! Literary Magazine, Namibia, 2020.
The fifth shortlist is ‘A Separation’ written by Iryn Tushabe from Ugandan. Her literary piece, A Separation was published in EXILE Quarterly, Canada 2018.
