LAGOS, Nigeria – Filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi  and many other Nollywood actors  have made arrangement to  stage a formally protest over continued detention of their colleague, Olanrewaju James, better known as Baba Ijesha.

Baba Ijesha has been in detention for weeks over his alleged involvement in molesting a 14 year old girl in his office. He could not be charged before any court since  the courts are on strike over financial autonomy for the judiciary.

Notice to protest

Under Nigerian law, an accused cannot be detained for more than 24 hours without being charged to court. This has been the dilemma of the police who have continued to detain the accused.

But writing on the social media today, Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi said he has organized some groups to embark on a peaceful protest on human rights and illegal detention. According to him, the protest will hold at  State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Panti.

According to him the police is trampling on the human rights of Baba Ijesha by refusing to grant him bail. “Any progressive society must respect the rights of others#releasebabaijeshaonbail #saynohumanrightsviolation.
