Coronavirus claims 3,476, 932 lives globally as active cases in Nigeria hit 7499

LAGOS – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 37 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases in the country to 166,098.
But out of the 166,098 confirmed cases, 156,528 patients have been treated and discharged, while 2,071 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 7499 active cases of Coronavirus.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-29, Akwa Ibom-3, FCT-2, Gombe-1, Kaduna-1 and Kano-1, making a total of 37 new cases of Coronavirus.
“NCDC @NCDC gov 37 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-29, Akwa Ibom-3, FCT-2, Gombe-1, Kaduna-1 and Kano-1: 166,098 confirmed; 156,528 discharged; 2,071 deaths”, the NCDC has announced.
There are now 167, 469,495 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 3,476, 932 patients have passed on, while 1, 706, 513, 398 doses of vaccines have been administered worldwide based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted in terms of total number affected and total number of deaths. The U.S.A is now reporting 33, 159, 590 confirmed cases of Coronavirus pandemic, while 590, 852 patients are no more, followed by India which has reported 26, 948, 874 all time cases, while 307, 231 patients have passed on and Brazil which has reported 16, 120, 756 all time cases , while 449,858 others have been killed by the pandemic.
France remains the 4th country most afflicted, reporting 5, 670, 486 all time cases while 109, 040 patients have been killed by the pandemic, followed by Turkey which has documented 5, 203, 385 all time infections, while 46, 621 patients are no more and Russia which has reported 4, 960, 174 confirmations, while 117, 197 patients have lost their lives to the pandemic.
The United Kingdom is the 7th country most afflicted, now reporting 4, 483, 173 all time cases, while 128,001 patients are now dead, followed by Italy which has registered 4, 197,892 all time infections, while 125,501 patients have died from the pandemic and Germany which has reported 3, 662, 554 all time infections, while 87, 528 patients have passed on.
Spain has come up as the 10th country most hit, reporting 3, 652, 879 confirmations and 79, 801 other patients have died and South Africa with 1, 637, 848 confirmed cases and 55,874 deaths.
