Andy Jassy succeeds world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos at Amazon
NEW YORK – Word’s richest man, Jeff Bezos has announced that he is stepping down as Chief Executive Officer of Amazon in the third quarter of 2021.
Jeff Bezos, (57) led Amazon from a small retail store, selling books into a big empire. Amazon is now worth USD 1.6 trillion. He will be succeeded by Andy Jassy(53), who joined Amazon in 1997. Amazon was founded in 1994.
Jeff Bezos will however become Executive Chairman of the Amazon board. In the Executive Chair role, he will focus his energies and attention on new products and early initiatives.
For him, Andy is well known inside the company. “He will be an outstanding leader and he has my full confidence”, Jeff Bezos said.
“I am excited to announce that this Q3, I’ll transition to Executive Chair of the Amazon Board and Andy Jassy will become CEO. In the Executive Chair role, I intend to focus my energies and attention on new products and early initiatives.
“ Andy is well known inside the company and has been at Amazon almost as I have. He will be an outstanding leader and he has my full confidence”, Jeff Bezos said in his letter to workers at Amazon.
