FCMB names Yemisi Edun as Acting MD

LAGOS, Nigeria – First City Monument Bank, FCMB has named Mrs. Yemisi Edun as Acting Managing Director. He replaces the embattled Adam Nuru who is on forced leave, following petition to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN requesting his sack for unethical behavour.
The petition on CHANGE.ORG has been signed by over 2900 people.
Adam Nuru is alleged in the petition to CBN to be the father of Moyo’s children, wife of the late Tunde Thomas. Tunde and his wife worked with FCMB. The bank had refuted the claim, saying there is no proof that Adamu Nuru is father of Moyo’s children.
In a statement, announcing the changes, management of the bank said Yemisi Edun is replacing Adam Nuru who is on leave. There are unconfirmed reports that the bank is investigation the petition alleging Adam Nuru’s adultery with Moyo.
“In line with normal corporate practice, Mrs Yemisi Edun is Acting as the Managing Director of FCMB in the interim period while Mr Adam Nuru is on leave”, the bank said. The bank also said she has not been appointed as the substantive Managing Director.
Prior to her elevation, Yemisi Edun was Executive Director Finance and number two in the bank’ s ranking.
Mrs. Yemisi Edun holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife and a Masters’ degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers and an Associate Member of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Member of Information Systems Audit and Control, U.S.A. and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
She began her career with Akintola Williams Deloitte (member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu) in 1987 with focus on corporate finance activities as well as audit of banks and other financial institutions. She joined FCMB in year 2000 as Divisional Head of Internal Audit and Control before assuming the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Bank.
