LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 617 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing all time cases to 72,757. But out of the 72,757 all time cases, 65,850 patients have been treated successfully and discharged, while 1,194 others could not make it alive. Active cases in Nigeria has now risen to 5713.
Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-225, FCT-181, Kaduna-125, Adamawa-25, Nasarawa-20, Kano-12, Rivers-8, Edo-4, Ekiti-4, Bayelsa-3, Ogun-3, Plateau-3, Akwa Ibom-2, Delta-1 and Sokoto-1, making a total of 617 new cases.

But globally, there are now 71, 541, 897 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 1, 602, 500 deaths, while 46,680, 439 others have recovered. There are now 23, 258, 958 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide going by current statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, (JHU), Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 16,020, 646 all time cases, 297,575 patients have died while 6, 135, 314 others have been treated and discharged, leaving the USA with 9, 587, 757 active cases of Coronavirus(261, 985 new cases), followed by India, which has confirmed 9, 826, 775 cases, 142, 628 patients are already dead, while 9, 324, 328 others have been treated successfully and discharged, leaving India with 217, 191 active cases of Coronavirus(30,006 new cases) and Brazil with 6, 836, 227 all time infections, 180, 437 patients are already dead, while 6,078, 287 others have survived the pandemic, leaving Brazil with 577, 503 active cases of Coronavirus(54, 828 new cases).
Russia remains the 4th country most hit, reporting 2, 602,048 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 45, 923 patients are already dead, while 2,066, 710 others are now back on their feet, leaving Russia with 489, 415 active cases of Coronavirus(27, 729 new cases), followed by France which has documented 2, 405, 255 confirmations, 57, 671 patients are no more, while 181, 581 others have passed on, leaving France with 2, 166, 003 patients still down with the virus, hoping for the best of medical care to stay alive(128 new cases) and the United Kingdom which has suffered the highest casualties in Europe.
The United Kingdom has reported 1, 835,949 all time cases, 64,123 patients are already dead, while only 3,805 others have been able to recover from the pandemic despite the advancement in medical science, leaving the UK with 1, 768, 021 patients still down with the pandemic hoping for divine intervention to save their lives(21, 556 new cases).
Italy has come up as the 7th country most affected by the pandemic, reporting 1, 825, 775 confirmations, 64,036 patients have passed on, while 1,076, 891 others have recovered, leaving Italy with 684, 848 active cases of Coronavirus(19, 902 new cases), followed by Turkey, which has just made it into the top 10 most afflicted countries globally.
Turkey has reported 1, 809,809 all time cases, 16, 199 deaths and 1, 581, 565 recoveries, leaving Turkey with 212, 045 active cases of Coronavirus and Spain which has reported 1, 730,575 all time infections, 47, 624 patients are no more, while 150, 376 patients remain the constant figure to have recovered since June 2020. Spain is now left with 1, 532, 575 active cases of Coronavirus.
Argentina has come down to the 10th country most hit, reporting 1,494, 602 confirmed cases, 40, 668 patients are no more while 1, 330, 160 others are now hale and hearty, leaving Argentina with 123, 774 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 386 new cases) and South Africa (18) with 852, 965 confirmed cases, 23, 106 deaths and 760, 118 recoveries, leaving South Africa with 69, 741 active cases of Coronavirus(7,882 new cases).
