Nigeria’s famous poet, JP Clark dies at 85

WARRI, Delta, Nigeria- Nigeria’s Emeritus  Professor of Literature, Professor John Pepper Clark is dead.  He died earlier today. He was 85.

The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State announced the death of the classic poet and writer.

 “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State announced the death of the Emeritus Professor of Literature wishes to announce that Emeritus Professor of Literature and Renowned Writer, Prof. John Pepper Clark, has finally dropped his pen in the early hours of today, Tuesday, 13 October, 2020”, the family said.

According to the family Prof. J. P. Clark died  in comfort of his wife, children and siblings, around him.

“The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family”, Prof. C. C. Clark and Mr. Ilaye Clark said in the joint statement, for the family and children respectively.

Professor J. P Clark has written dozens of books, widely used in secondary schools across Nigeria. Among his works are Mbari, a poem, A Reed in the Tide, Casualties and a Decade of Tongues.

Professor J.P Clark was born April April 6, 1935.
