Magu released from detention – Wahab Shittu
LAGOS, Nigeria – The suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu has been released from detention.
Magu was detained by the Presidential Panel probing his activities and allegations leveled against him.
Confirming the release, his lawyer, Wahab Shittu told Vanguard that Magu has been released from detention but declined to speak on his terms of bail.
He said Magu is now in his home in Abuja after he was released from detention.
Magu’s offence includes under declaration of recovered loot. Magu was alleged to have recovered N539 billion but declared N504 billion, failure to unfreeze a N7 billion judgment in favour of former executive director of a bank; insubordination to the Attorney General of the Federation; failure to furnish adequate evidence for the repatriation of former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke, sale of seized assets to friends and cronies and missing files among others.
