Downgrade of Rivers FC by LMC: Club told to protest to CAF, FIFA

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers , Nigeria – The Supporters club of  Rivers United Football Club has said that it will do everything to possible to resist any attempt to displace their team  from competing in the 2020/2021 CAF champions league competition as Nigeria’s representative.

The club reacted following the downgrade of the Rivers FC from the second to the third spot by the League Management Committee, LMC on conclusion of the league.

The club pleaded with management of Rivers FC to expedite action towards ensuring that justice and fair play is served to the fullest by insisting that the LMC restores it to its rightful second spot.

A communiqué signed by Comr. Franklin Owhor , Chairman of the supporters club after a meeting in Port Harcourt insisted that the Hon. Commissioner of Sports, State FA and the club Management must maintain its  second position on the league.

The club called on the sports ministry and management of the Rivers FC to

send a strong worded petition/ protest to CAF  and copy FIFA, Federal Ministry of Sports  and the NFF on the injustice and biasness of LMC, and thereafter , seek redress at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) if the LMC fails to do the needful.
