LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 575 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 29, 286 cases.

But out of the 29, 286 cases, 11,828 patients have recovered and therefore discharged from the various isolation centres, while 654 others could not make it alive.

A breakdown of the 575 new cases showed that 123 cases were found in Lagos,  100 in Abuja, 58 in Delta, 52 in Edo, 42 in Ogun, 24 in Katsina, 23 in Bayelsa, 22 in Rivers, 19 in Borno, 18 in Plateau, 18 in Ondo, 17 in Oyo, 15 in Kwara,  13 in Osun, 9 in Enugu, 7 in Nasarawa, 6 in Abia, 5 in Cross River, 3 in Kaduna and 1 in Ekiti, the NCDC said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are 11, 579, 837 confirmed cases, while 536, 814 patients have been killed by the pandemic based on the latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still leads among the most affected countries, reporting 2, 931, 142 cases, while 130, 248 others have been killed by the pandemic; 56, 746 new cases and 378 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Brazil, which has documented  1, 623, 284 cases with 65, 487 deaths; 46,280 new cases and 1,222 deaths, followed by  India, which has  documented 697, 413 cases while 19, 693 others have passed on; 24,248 new cases and 425 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Russia, which is the most affected country in Europe has reported 686, 777 cases, while 10, 271 others could not make it alive, followed by Peru with 305, 703 confirmed cases, while 10, 772 people have died and then Chile, which has documented 298, 557 confirmed cases, while 6, 384 people have been killed by the pandemic.

The United Kingdom, which has suffered  the highest casualty in Europe has recorded 287, 290 cases, while 44, 321 others have been killed by the pandemic; 359 new cases with 16 deaths, followed by Mexico with 256, 848 cases with 30, 639 deaths; 4,683 new cases and 273 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Next is Spain, which has documented 251,789 cases with 28, 388 deaths and then Iran with  234, 051 cases, while 11, 731 people were killed by the pandemic. Italy, has recorded 241, 819 cases while 34, 869 patients could not make it alive.

France, the 16th most affected country in the world has documented   205, 597 cases while 29, 923  others have died; 1,375 new cases with 27 deaths.

China, where the Coronavirus pandemic was first reported has confirmed 84, 888 cases, 4,641 deaths while 79, 725 others have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 522 cases in the last 24 hours, up by 12 new cases but no death in the last 24 hours.
