LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 626 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 27, 110.

But out of the 27, 110 cases, 10, 801 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, while 616 patients have passed on.

A breakdown of the 626 new cases showed that 193 cases were discovered in Lagos, 85 in Abuja, 41 in Oyo, 38 in Edo, 34 in Kwara, 31 in Abia, 29 in Ogun, 28 in Ondo, 26 in Rivers, 21 in Osun, 18 in Akwa Ibom, 18 in Delta, 15 in Enugu, 13 in Kaduna, 11 in Plateau, 8 in Borno, 7 in Bauchi, 5 in Adamawa, 4 in Gombe and 1 in Sokoto, making a total of 626 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are now 10, 935, 964 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 519, 818 patients have been killed by the virus, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University has said.

According to the centre, the United States still remains leader among the most affected countries, reporting 2, 731,939 confirmed cases, while 128, 643 patients could not make it alive; 54, 771 new cases and 713 deaths in the last 24 hours,  followed by Brazil, which has documented 1, 496, 858 cases, while 61, 884 patients have passed on; 94,817 new cases and 2, 290 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Next is Russia, the most afflicted country in Europe. Russia has reported 660, 231 confirmed cases, while 9, 668 patients have died from the pandemic; 6,752 new cases and 147 deaths; followed by India, which has documented 604, 641 confirmed cases, while 17, 834 people have died from the pandemic; 19,160 new cases and 434 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The United Kingdom, which has suffered the highest casualty in Europe has documented 201, 503 cases with 44,080 deaths; 86, 512 new cases   and 89 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Peru with 392, 004 cases with 10,045 deaths, followed by Chile, which has reported 284, 541 cases with 5, 920 deaths.

Spain is next, with 250, 103 confirmed cases with 28, 368 deaths, followed by Italy with 232, 863 cases, while 34, 818 patients have been killed by the COVID-19 pandemic and then China, where the pandemic was first reported.

China, now in the 22nd position in the league of most affected nations has documented 84, 825 confirmed cases, 4, 641 deaths, while 79, 650 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with 534 cases, up by 9 cases in the last 24 hours.
