LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 653 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing total cases in Nigeria to 36, 107.
Out of the 36, 107 cases, 14, 938 Nigerians have been discharged, while 778 others have been killed by the pandemic, leaving Nigeria with 20, 391 active cases.
Breakdown of the 653 cases is as follows: Lagos-115, Kwara-85, Enugu-80, FCT-78, Rivers-36, Ondo-35, Oyo-30, Katsina-28, Kaduna-19, Abia-19, Nasarawa-18, Plateau-17, Imo-16, Ogun-9, Ebonyi-9, Benue-9, Kano-9, Delta-8, Bauchi-7, Ekiti-6, Gombe-4, Bayelsa-4, Adamawa-4, Osun-4, Cross River-1, Yobe-1, Borno-1 and Zamfara-1.

Globally there are currently 14, 126, 035 cases of Coronavirus, 598,098 deaths, while 7, 931, 486 others have recovered based on statistics from Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States still remains ahead of other nations both in terms of infections and total number of death. The United States has recorded 3, 676, 942 confirmed cases, 139, 748 deaths, while 1, 107, 204 Americans have been discharged, leaving the U.S with 2, 429,990 active cases, followed by Brazil which has documented 2, 046, 328 confirmed cases, 77, 851 deaths, while 1, 428, 733 others have recovered, leaving Brazil with 539,744 active cases of the pandemic.
India, has documented 1, 038, 716 confirmed cases, 26, 273 deaths, while 653,751 others have been discharged, leaving India with 358, 692 active cases, followed by Russia with 764,215 cases, 12, 228 deaths, while 545, 909 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 206,078 active cases of the pandemic.
Peru(5th in the league of most infected nations) has reported 345,537 confirmed cases, 10, 952 deaths and 233, 982 recoveries, leaving Peru with 100, 603 active cases, followed by South Africa(6) with 337, 594 cases, 4, 948 deaths while 178,183 others have recovered. South Africa is left with 154, 463 active cases, followed by Mexico(7) with 331, 298 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 38, 310 deaths, while 264, 202 people have been discharged, leaving Mexico with 29, 416 active cases followed by Chile(8) with 328, 846 cases, 8,445 deaths, while 299,449 others have been discharged.
Chile is left with 20, 952 active cases, followed by the United Kingdom(9) with 295, 631 cases, 45,358 deaths, while only 1, 403 people have recovered, leaving the U.K with 248, 870 active cases of Coronavirus.
Iran(10) is next with 271, 606 cases, 13,979 deaths, while 235, 300 others have recovered, leaving Iran with 22, 327 active cases of the pandemic. Spain in 12th position in the league of most affected countries has documented 260, 255 cases, 28, 420 deaths, while 150,376 others have been discharged, leaving Spain with 81,459 active cases, followed by Saudi Arabia(13) with 248, 416 cases, 2, 447 deaths, while 194, 218 others have recovered, leaving Saudi Arabia with 51, 751 active cases of the virus.
Italy(14) has documented 244, 216 cases, 35,042 deaths, 196,906 patients have recovered, leaving Italy with 12, 268 active cases and France(16) with 211, 943 cases, 30, 155 deaths, while 79,371 others have recovered, leaving France with 102, 417 active cases and Germany(17) which has documented 202, 436 cases, 9,091 deaths while 187, 200 others have been discharged, leaving Germany with 6, 145 active cases of the pandemic and China(25th in the league of most affected countries), just behind Egypt has 85, 314 cases, 4, 644 deaths while 80,018 Chinese have recovered, leaving China with 652 active cases of Coronavirus.
