LAGOS,  Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 438 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number to 39,977 cases.

Out of the 39,977 cases, 16,948 Nigerians have been discharged, while 856 others are dead, leaving Nigeria with 22, 173 active cases of the pandemic.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows: Lagos-123, Kaduna-50, Rivers-40, Edo-37, Adamawa-25, Oyo-20, Nasarawa-16, Osun-15, Enugu-15, Abuja-14, Ekiti-13, Ondo-13, Ebonyi-11, Katsina-10, Abia-9, Delta-8, Kwara-4, Ogun-3, Cross River-3, Kano-3, Bauchi-3, Yobe-2, Sokoto-1 and Niger-1, making a total of 438 new cases of Coronavirus.

There are currently 15, 898,489 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 641,716 deaths, while 9, 163, 576 others have recovered based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most affected, reporting  4,154, 361 confirmed cases, 146, 143 deaths, while 1, 261,624 others have recovered, leaving the U.S with 2, 746, 594 active cases of the pandemic(57,091 new cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Brazil which has documented 2, 343, 366 confirmed cases, 85, 238 deaths, while 1, 751, 922 others have been discharged leaving Brazil with 506, 206 active cases(55,891 new cases in the last 24 hours).

Occupying the third spot in the ranks of most affected countries is India, with 1,337, 024 cases, 31, 358 deaths, while 849, 432 Indians have recovered, leaving the state with 456, 234 active cases of the pandemic(48,916 new cases in the last 24 hours) followed by Russia with 805, 332 confirmed cases, 13, 172 deaths, while 596, 064 Russians have been discharged, leaving the state with 196, 096 active cases of the pandemic, followed by South Africa with 434, 200 cases, 6,655 deaths while 263,054 others have recovered, leaving South Africa with 162, 491 active cases of the virus(12, 204 new cases in the last 24 hours).

Mexico has moved up to the 6th spots in the league of most affected nations, documenting  385,036 cases, 42, 645 deaths, while 290, 133 others have been discharged, leaving Mexico with 52, 258 active cases of the pandemic(6, 751 new cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Peru with 375, 961 cases, 17, 843 deaths while 259, 423 others have recovered, leaving Peru with 98, 695 active cases of the virus, followed by Chile with 343, 592 cases, 9,020 deaths, while  316, 169 others have recovered, leaving Chile with 18,403 active cases of the pandemic.

In the 9th spot is the United Kingdom which has reported 300, 270 cases, 45, 823 deaths, while only 1, 427 have residents been discharged, leaving the U.K with 253, 020 active cases of the pandemics(770 new cases in the last 24 hour), followed by Iran which has reported 288, 839 cases, 15, 484 deaths while 251, 319 Iranians have been discharged, leaving Iran with 22, 036 active cases and then  China, where the pandemic was first reported.

 Now the 26th most affected country, China has reported 86, 202 cases, 4, 651deaths, while 80, 341 others have recovered, leaving China with 1,210 active cases of the Coronavirus pandemic.
