LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 684 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 23,298 cases.

But out of the 23, 298 confirmed cases, 8, 253 patients have recovered and have been discharged from the various isolation centres, while 554 others could not make it alive.

A breakdown of the 684 new cases revealed that 259 cases were found in Lagos, 76 in Oyo, 69 in Katsina,  66 in Delta, 46 in Rivers, 23 in Ogun, 22 in Edo, 22 in Osun, 21 in Ebonyi, 20 in Abuja, 16 in Kaduna, 10 in Ondo, 9 in Imo, 9 in Abia, 5 in Gombe, 4 in Plateau, 4 in Bauchi, 2 in Ekiti and 1 case in Anambra, making a total of 689 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Worldwide, there are currently 9, 713, 757 confirmed cases of Coronavirus while 491, 777 patients have died based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

According to the centre, the United States remains the most affected country in the world, reporting 2, 461, 444 confirmed cases while 124, 960 people have been killed by the pandemic, followed closely by Brazil with 1, 228, 114 confirmed cases while 55, 957 patients have passed on.

Brazil has recorded no new case but 986 deaths in the last 24 hours based on latest figures from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

Russia remains the most affected country in Europe with 619, 936 confirmed cases while 8,770 patients have died followed by  India, which has documented  490, 401 confirmed cases, while 15, 301 patients have died.

Next is the United Kingdom, with 310, 836 confirmed cases,  while 43, 498 patients have passed on, followed by Peru, which has documented 272, 364 confirmed cases, while 8,939 patients could not make it alive and then Chile 263, 360 confirmed cases with 5,068 deaths.

Spain is next in line, reporting  247, 905 cases with 28, 338 deaths followed by Italy which has documented 239, 961 confirmed cases while 34, 708 people have died of the pandemic and then China which has documented 84, 704 confirmed cases, 4,641 deaths, while 79, 577 patients have recovered and then discharged, leaving China with 486, up by 6 cases but no death in the last 24 hours.
