Coronavirus in Nigeria: 20, 244 cases, 518 dead, Brazil 33, 420 new, see table
LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 436 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 20,244 cases.
But out of the 20, 244 cases, a total of 6, 879 patients have recovered and therefore discharged from the various isolation centres while 518 others could not make it alive.
However, a breakdown of the 436 new cases shows that 169 new cases were found in Lagos, 52 in Oyo, 31 in Plateau, 29 in Imo, 28 in Kaduna, 23 in Ogun, 18 in Abuja, 18 in Enugu, 17 in Bauchi, 14 in Bayelsa, 8 in River State, 6 in Osun, 6 in Kano, 5 in Edo, 5 in Benue, 3 in Adamawa, 2 in Borno, 1 in Abia and 1 in Ekiti State, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

Globally, there are 8,896, 153 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 465, 896 patients have died based on latest statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States remains the most affected country in the world with 2, 274, 280 confirmed cases of the pandemic with 119, 935 deaths, followed by Brazil with 1,066, 333 confirmed cases with 49, 976 people dead.
Based on figures from John Hopkins, Brazil has recorded 33, 420 new cases and nil death in the last 24 hours.
Next in line is Russia, which has documented 583, 879 confirmed cases with 8, 101 deaths, followed by India which has confirmed 410, 461 cases, while 13, 254 patients could not make it alive, followed by United Kingdom which has reported 305, 803 confirmed cases with 42, 717 deaths.
Peru is next with 251, 338 confirmed cases, while 7, 861 patients could not make it alive, followed by Spain, which has documented 246, 272 confirmed cases with 28, 323 deaths, trailed closely by Italy which has reported 238, 499 cases with 34, 634 deaths.
China, where the pandemic was first reported has been pushed into the 21st position in the table of most affected nations, reporting 84, 556 confirmed cases, 4, 639 deaths, while 79, 534 patients have recovered and therefore discharged, leaving China with 383 cases, up by 29 new cases in the last 24 hours.
