LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 681 new cases of Coronavirus pandemic, bringing the total number of Coronavirus in Nigeria to 14,554.
Out of the 14, 554 cases, 4,494 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 4, 494 others could not make it alive.
However, a breakdown of the 681 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria revealed that 345 cases were discoveed in Lagos, 51 in Rivers, 48 in Ogun, 47 in Gombe, 36 in Oyo, 31 in Imo, 28 in Delta, 23 in Kano, 18 in Bauchi, 12 in Edo, 12 in Katsina, 9 in Kaduna, 7 in Anambra, 5 in Jigawa, 4 in Kebbi, 4 in Ondo and 1 in Nasarawa State.
“NCDC @NCDCgov, 681 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-345, Rivers-51, Ogun-48, Gombe-47, Oyo-36, Imo-31, Delta-28, Kano-23, Bauchi-18, Edo-12, Katsina-12, Kaduna-9, Anambra-7, Jigawa-5, Kebbi-4, Ondo-4, Nasarawa-1. Total of: 14,554 cases of #COVID19Nigeria, 4,494 discharged, 387 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement about Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Globally, there are now 7, 487, 676 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 420, 236 patients have passed on based on statistics released by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.
According to the centre, the United States which has recorded the highest number of infections and total number of deaths, crossing the 2 million mark in terms of those afflicted. There are currently 2, 021, 990 confirmed cases of the pandemic in the U.S, while 113, 774 patients have passed on.
Next to the United States is Brazil, which currently has 802, 828 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 40, 919 deaths. Brazil recorded 30,412 new cases and 2, 513 deaths
in the last 24 hours, John Hopkins University said of Coronavirus in Brazil, followed by Russia which has a new peak of 501, 800 confirmed cases, while 6, 522 patients have died.
The United Kingdom, which has suffered the highest casualty in Europe now has 292, 860 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 4, 364 deaths, followed by India, which has recorded 286, 605 confirmed cases with 8, 102 deaths, followed by Spain, which has confirmed 242, 707 cases of the pandemic, while 27,136 patients have passed on.
Next is Italy with 336, 142 confirmed cases, with 34, 167 deaths and then China, where Coronavirus was first reported.
China currently has 84, 210 cases of the pandemic, 4, 638 deaths, while 79, 457 patients have recovered and subsequently, leaving China with 115 cases, up by about 5 new cases.
