Joseph Pessu: Army nabs soldier threatening to rape women in Warri

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army said it has arrested the soldier in the viral video threatening to rape and pass on the Human Immunodeficiency Virus(HIV) to women in Warri.
The soldier had made the threat following alleged murder of a soldier in retaliation for the murder of Joseph Pessu in Warri, Delta State. Joseph Pessu was killed while driving around Warri during the lockdown.
Replying to the viral video, the Nigerian Military said said the soldier using uncouth and uncivilised language purportedly threatening to molest women was arrested by men of the 9 Brigage Ikeja Military Cantonment in Lagos today.
In the statement, the military said investigation is currently ongoing and assured the general public that the investigation will be swift and fair in accordance with applicable military laws and that the outcome of the investigation will determine the appropriate disciplinary measures.

It assured that it will not tolerate any form of irresponsible act on the part of its personnel.

“The Nigerian Army wishes to reiterate that it would not tolerate any form of irresponsibility and indiscipline on the part of any of its personnel”, the military said in the statement.
