COVID-19: U.S tops chart in number of death, most affected persons too
MARYLAND, U.S – The United States of America has emerged as the most affected country by the COVID-19 pandemic, recording the highest number of confirmed cases and the highest number of deaths.
Recent statistics released by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering at the John Hopkins University revealed that the total number of confirmed cases globally has climbed to 1, 904, 566, while 118, 459 people have died from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, with the U.S leading the pack.
According to the statistics, the United States now has a total of 572, 169 confirmed cases with 23,070 deaths. Spain now reports 169, 496 confirmed cases with 17, 489 deaths, followed by Italy with 159, 516 confirmed cases with 20, 465 deaths.
France currently has a total of 137, 975 confirmed cases with 14, 986 deaths. Germany reports 128, 208 confirmed cases with 3,043 deaths.

Next in line is United Kingdom, which currently has a total of 89, 569 confirmed cases with 11, 346 deaths while China has reported 82, 213 confirmed cases with 3, 345 deaths while Iran has reported a total of 73, 303 confirmed cases with 4, 585 deaths.
In Africa, South Africa leads the pack with 2, 272 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 27 deaths followed by Egypt with 2190 confirmed cases with 164 deaths, followd by Algeria with 1,983 confirmed cases with 313 deaths. Morocco now has 1,763 confirmed cases with 126 deaths.
In West Africa, Cote D’ivoire reports 626 confirmed cases with 6 deaths, while Ghana has 566 confirmed cases with 8 deaths, Niger 529 confirmed cases with 12 deaths, while Nigeria has 323 cases with 10 deaths.
