ONITSHA, Nigeria – Anambra state Commissioner for Police Mr. John Abang has expressed satisfaction over the conduct of security men enforcing the total lockdown and people’s compliance to government directives.

Abang  expressed the  satisfaction on  Wednesday while monitoring   the level  of compliance of the total shutdown with other  security chiefs in the state.

The security  chiefs  in the team, include Director of State Security  Services DSS, Mr Agaga Alex, Commander  of 302  Army Artillery Regiment Onitsha Col. AIM Lapia , Commander Federal Road Safety Corps   (FRSC)Mr.  Andrew Kumapayi .Commander Nigerian Security and  Civil Defence  Corps NSDCDC Mr. David Billi , Commandant  Nigerian Drugs Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Mr.  Idris Mohammed and Anambra State Commissioner of Police CP John Abang.

Speaking to journalists, during the monitoring at Brigade head Onitsha, a border  point between Anambra and Delta state,Abang  expressed satisfaction over the level of compliance by the people and security operatives’ conduct.

According to him,  the level of compliance is satisfactory  to   security  chiefs and we are happy with the compliance. He  said the security operatives are  doing all thing to make sure people see reason they must  stay at home and not moving around. On why vehicles are not allowed to  pass but  human beings  are allowed to move around, he said those people moving around are people dealing in food items and that they cannot be stopped.

“There is no how you don’t  allow people going to their shops to sell food items. We cannot stop them from going to shops to attend to food need of the people” he said.

According to him, those struggling  to cross either to Anambra or Delta states have reduced today when compared to previous days  because many  of them have understood the need for the restriction.

On allegations that some security men were collecting money to pass people and  vehicles, he said there are rules for the engagement and any found violating will face the law.

“Any person caught violating the rules will be dealt with accordingly” he said
