COVID-19 cases rise to 442 in Nigeria as 142, 735 die globally
LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 35 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic bringing it to a total of 442 confirmed cases in Nigeria.
Out of the 35 new cases, 19 were confirmed in Lagos, 9 in Abuja, 5 in Kano, and 2 in Oyo State, the NCDC has said, adding that out of the 442 cases, 152 patients have been treated and discharged while 13 patients have died.
“Thirty-five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 19 in Lagos 9 in FCT 5 in Kano 2 in Oyo As at 10:20 pm 16th April there are 442 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 152 have been discharged, 13 are dead”, the NCDC has said.
The number of confirmed cases climed to 442 in Nigeria even as the global figure has reached 2, 138, 763, while 142, 735 people have died of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University has reported.

However, the United States has continued to maintain the lead, reporting 667, 225 confirmed cases with 32, 868 deaths, followed by Spain which now has 184, 948 confirmed cases with 19, 315 deaths, Italy 168, 941 confirmed cases with 22, 170 deaths.
France now has a total of 147,091confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 17, 941 deaths, while Germany has reported 137,698 confirmed cases with 4,052 deaths, while cases in the United Kingdom has reached a total of 104, 145 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 13, 759 deaths.
In China, there are 83, 403 confirmed cases with 3, 343 deaths while Iran has reported a total of 77, 995 confirmed cases with 4, 869 deaths.
