LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed five new cases of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 214, even as 64, 316 patients die globally.
Of the five new cases, NCDC said 3 new cases were found in Bauchi and 2 in Abuja. Besides, it said a total of 25 patients have been discharged in Nigeria with four deaths so far.
“Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 3 in Bauchi and 2 in the FCT. As at 10:10 pm 4th April there are 214 confirmed cases of #COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty-five have been discharged with four deaths”, the NCDC said.
Confirmed cases in Nigeria hit 214 just as the Centre for Science and Engineering at John Hopkins Univeristy, United States shows that as at April 4, 2020, a total of 1, 192, 021 confirmed cases have been recorded worldwide with death toll put at 64, 313 globally.
The figures in the United States are currently freightening, reporting a total of 305, 820 confirmed cases with 8, 291 deaths while 14,520 people have also recovered.

Spain has overtaken Italy, reporting a total of 124, 870 confirmed cases with 11, 818 deaths, while 34,219 patients have recovered. Italy is reporting 124, 632 confirmed cases with 15, 362 deaths, while 20,996 have recovered from the pandemic.
Germany has reported 95, 614 confirmed cases with 1, 427 deaths and 26, 400 patients have recovered while France is reporting 90, 842 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 7, 574 deaths while 15, 574 patients have recovered from hospitals.

China where the COVID-19 pandemic started has been pushed into the sixth most affected country, reporting 82, 543 confirmed cases with 3,330 deaths while a total of 76, 946 patients have recovered after treatment in hospital.
Iran under sanctions by the United States has reported 55, 743 confirmed cases with 3, 442 deaths, while 19,736 patients have recovered. The United Kingdom has reported 42, 449 confirmed cases with 4, 320 deaths while 215 patients have recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Africa, South Africa is currently the most afflicted country, reporting 1, 585 confirmed cases, with 9 deaths while 95 patients have recovered from COVID-19. Algeria is reporting 1, 251 confirmed cases with 130 deaths, while 90 patients have recovered.
Egypt has reported 1,070 cases with 71 deaths while 241 patients have recovered. Morocco has 919 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic with 59 deaths while 66 patients have recovered. Ghana has reported 205 confirmed cases with 5 deaths while 31 patients have recovered.
